After amazing Esfahan we continued to Shiraz, Yazd and the dessert city Khoor.

Shiraz
In Shiraz the highlight are outside the city (Persepolis and Nekropolis). But we spend a full day in Shiraz doing a city walk where we visited the pink mosque. In the evening we enjoyed the sunset from the top of a small mountain! Really beautiful. We had dinner in a very fancy restaurant (where we again were seated at the carpet – pew – we need to practice some yoga in the future).
Persepolis
“Built on the slopes of Mt Rahmat 500 years BC Persepolis was intended as a showcase of the Achaemenid empire, designed to awe visitors with its scale and beauty.” (Lonely Planet)

Yazd
Yazd is a really nice dessert city with beautiful houses and cosy roof top terraces. We also experienced the very unique wind towers which secure “air conditioning” to the houses but also the impressive water pipe system which for the past 2000 years! has provided the village with clean mountain water.
Yazd and Khoor were booth extremely hot with > 42 degrees at noon. Consequently we have spent more hours in our room (with air con). The heat made us lazy and sleepy! We fully understand SIESTA! One day we tried to be brave and went into the narrow streets of Yazd around noon! They streets were completely deserted with all shops and restaurants were closed . We felt like 2 eggs on a frying pan! And we ran home 🏠
When that said we would not have missed the journey through the dessert. New colours. New landscapes. Sheeps, camels and 50 shades of brown and yellow. A highlight during the dessert journey was our visit to the salt lakes at sunset! Milad loves sunsets especially because the temperature is tolerable.
Koohr
Salt lakes and sand dunes!
