Esfahan is Irans top turist destination! And that is for a reason. We fully support that this is the most beautiful, amazing and wonderful city we have ever visited. It has the most overwhelming and impressive sights and on top of that a huge bazar, nice neighbourhoods and friendly people! What’s not to like!
The pictures are with our best intentions for sharing some of the highlights. But you will probably get a better impression by “googeling” the top-sights! We can only encourage you to plan for visit to Iran as soon as possible!
Imam Square (Naqsh-e Janhan)
This huge square is 512 x 163 m and was laid out in 1602 under Sha Abbas the Great. From the square you can enter the two beautiful and impressive mosques and the Palace.
The Square it self has not changed much since it was build! Symmetric in style with a big fountain, lawns, trees and flowers it is a natural meeting point for families and friends when the sun sets. Roller scating, barbecuing, playing cards (even though forbitten by law) or even bathing in the fountain makes the old square even more beautiful!
Private Mosque, also called the most beautiful mosque in the world (Masjed-e Sheikh Lotfollah)
Public Mosque (Masjed-e Shah)
Sha Abbas I Palace (Kakh-e Ali Qapu Palace)
We also went to the music museum, which might sound boring. It was really interesting and started with a small concert followed by a guided tour in the museum. On our way back to the hotel we walked the impressive bridge (pedestrians only) (Si-o-she Pol), build 1602, which today is a popular meeting place for citizens of Esfahan.
