Happy life!
After an absolutely unforgettable week cruising the beautiful turquoise lagoons in French Polynesia, we decided to stay one week at the Island Moorea. A holiday during the holiday 😉.
Moorea is located only 17 km north west of Tahiti. It is easy to go there with public transportation. Only 12.000 people are living in Moorea. Families from Tahiti go to Moorea for weekend trips, some even have a country house.
Moorea rises out of the ocean with high, sharp and green mountains, often covered in clouds. It is surrounded by a turquoise-blue lagoon, like the other islands. We stayed at Coco beach (the best beach of the island). To be honest we did not do a lot, besides from swimming and snorkeling (in some of the clearest water we have ever seen).
One day we rented a kayak which brought us to some small deserted motu’s (islands) and to a beautiful reef with loads of fish. Another day we rented a scooter, which was great fun. We drove the one and only road around the island and stopped for attractions, coffee and lunch.
We celebrated my birthday (Malene) at Moorea. I can recommend going abroad for birthdays! I was overwhelmed and touched by all the attention from family, friends and former colleagues. So many nice words! Thanks to all of you making that birthday a very special and memorable one!
After one week it was time to move on. Saturday by ferry back to Tahiti and Sunday flying back to New Zealand to fly on to Santiago, Chile in south America.
Public transport is not working on Saturday after 12 o’clock and the entire Sunday. As we had decided not to support the taxi drivers (as they were cheating on us when we arrived in Tahiti), we choose to stay one night in Tahiti. With a value-voucher from hotels.com, which is our favorite accommodation provider, we booked one night at the 4-star Manava Resort! What a treat! And what a sunset. We invested in a couple of T-punch’s (rum, lemon juice and brown sugar) ……… that did not make the sunset worse! While enjoying the sunset another guest approached us and told us that she had taken a picture of us! She found us so cute and very much in love! She then proposed to share it 😉 THANKS! That is the last picture below! The color was really as you see it #nofilter.
