Myanmar Part II & Reflections on life as overlanders

Inle lake is a huge freshwater lake, the second biggest in Myanmar, located in the Shan State near the village Nyaungshwe. Surface 116 km2. The Lake is home to 70.000 people. The lake is used for fishing and furthermore small pieces of land is used for farming, primarily tomato’s and bananas.

Transportation on the lake is done by small boats. We sailed to visit small villages with handicrafts, restaurants, temples and even a small floating post office.

The north east part of Myanmar is beautiful. Extremely green. Most parts are farmed, even on the steep mountains. Myanmar is an undeveloped country, everything is done by hand including farming, road construction and production of cigars and fabrics (just to mention a few).

The people are extremely friendly and curious. Some of them speak English. Myanmar is an inexpensive country for travelling. WE WILL BE BACK 🙂
